Grants to Canada and Israel for-profit companies for joint industrial research and development projects. Advance registration and expression of interest forms are required prior to submitting a full proposal. Funding is intended to support innovative projects in the areas of digital technologies, clean technologies, health and bio-sciences, and agricultural and agri-food technologies.

Eureka is the world’s biggest public network for international cooperation in R&D and innovation, present in over 45 countries. It is a decentralized intergovernmental organization aiming to boost the productivity and competitiveness of industries by funding and supporting international collaborative market-driven R&D projects.

The purpose of the Industrial R&D Program is to support greater collaboration among Canadian and Israeli companies and researchers. Support shall be granted to each partner by its own Authorities, in accordance with existing laws, rules, regulations and national procedures.

Although this call invites proposals related to any technological or market area, special attention is being given to the following sectors:

  • Health and bio-sciences, including healthy aging, mental health, biomedicine and biomedical engineering
  • Digital technologies, AI, Quantum computing
  • Agricultural technologies and agri-food technologies
  • Clean technologies and low carbon economy technologies, including materials for clean fuels, clean transportation/mobility, climate-resilient building/infrastructure, renewable energy, water and waste water management

This program encompasses:

Incentive Program for R&D with International Partners: The incentive program provides support to Israeli companies working with foreign companies on commercialization-directed programs to develop new technological products or to significantly upgrade an existing technology. For additional information, see: https://innovationisrael.org.il/en/program/bilateral-programs-parallel-support

Incentive Program for Pilots with International Partners: The incentive program supports Israeli companies’ technological pilot programs in different fields, that will be conducted at selected foreign entities' Beta sites or that will be based on their capabilities, data, or information. This incentive is made possible by a financial grant funded by the Innovation Authority to help share the risk involved in funding the project. Israel Innovation Authority ("Authority") and NRC IRAP International invite Israeli and Canadian companies to submit joint proposals.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for submission is ‏28/06/22 at 12:00. The application process is detailed in the incentive program for R&D with International Partners and the incentive program for Pilots with International Partners.

For Canadian companies, an Expression of Interest (EOI) process is required. Deadline for the EOI registration stage is 6 May 2022 and the deadline for the EOI submission is 13 May 2022. At the Israel Innovation Authority, the EOI stage is not mandatory but is highly recommended.

In addition to the online submission to the Israel Innovation Authority and to the submission of the Canadian partner with NRC IRAP, a joint submission with EUREKA is a must and the joint submission form should be attached to the online submission to the Israel Innovation Authority.
